How to replace the WFCB
Takes about 5 minutes, no tools. The steps are the same for the OEM WFCB and any certified equivalent.
1. Locate the filter
On most Frigidaire fridges the WFCB sits inside the top-right of the fresh-food compartment, in the bottom base grille, or lower rear. Check your manual if unsure.
2. Release the old filter
Turn the old cartridge a quarter-turn counter-clockwise, or press the release button, and pull it straight out. A little water drip is normal.
3. Prep the new filter
Unwrap the new WFCB (or a certified equivalent) and remove the protective caps from the O-rings.
4. Insert and lock
Push the new filter in and turn clockwise until it clicks or the arrow lines up. It should seat firmly without forcing.
5. Flush the line
Run 2–4 gallons (about 4 minutes) through the dispenser to clear harmless carbon fines and air, until the water runs clear.
6. Reset the indicator
Press and hold the filter-status button for ~3 seconds until the light turns from red back to blue/green.
Signs it's time to replace it
Swap the WFCB when you notice any of these — don't wait past 6 months.
